Beyond Borders UK

This website provides a service to artists and organisations across the East Midlands of the United Kingdom and those interested in becoming involved in work or developing contacts within the region. We also invite membership from other individuals and organisations worldwide who are interested in future creative collaborations and work. This may include artists who would like to work in the East Midlands, potential employers of regional artists and organisations and those with an academic interest in our work.

Our primary interest is to build and maintain a network of artists who have arrived in this country from around the world. We aim to promote their work, explore the issues they face and to support work with new and established 'arrival' communities. Many artists are in exile from their countries of origin, others have chosen to settle here for other reasons - we welcome anyone who has an experience of and love for the arts and culture of the wider world.

Beyond Borders UK is a collaboration between participatory arts organisations in the East Midlands and Loughborough University. The programme of work with arrival communities and the arts has a long history in the East Midlands and this latest development was established through a research and development grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
